Dyson DC07 CYCLONE FINS?
« on: October 04, 2019, 05:06:04 pm »
I have noticed that the inside the DC07 cyclone there are fins on the interior of the Cyclone Assembly, what role do these fins do ? I own a DC07 Origin and three of the fins have been shortened by a previous owner. This does not seem to affect the DC07 cleaning ability, does any know if the original longer fins would improve the  DC07 cleaning performance ?
I note that inside the Dyson DC14 cyclone there are no fins fitted !

The fins have nothing to do with performance, they are only there so that the dirt can stop spinning and therefore the powerful centrifugal forces in the bin compress the dirt. No fins just means the dirt will spin around. The DC14 actually does have fins but on the bin and bin flap itself

Thanks Parwaz for your explanation of the fins role in the workings of the Dyson DC07 Cyclone. So my DC07 with three shortened fins is not a disadvantage ! grahamwin

My guess is the previous owner attempted a cyclone strip down and damaged the fin ends while trying to pull off the fin assembly. I could be wrong but I have seen this happen on a Youtube video by Elecromechanicalpaul if memory serves.
