DC18 HEPA/No suction from bottom end
« on: October 06, 2019, 12:22:21 pm »
Hi all, been away for a while for one reason or another. All the time, I've still got loads of Dysons which have been dead money so I thought I'd turn a few around.
So the first one I pick is a fairly tidy DC18.
So I plug it in and fire it up. Loads of suction from the wand but nothing from the bottom. Initially the brush bar wasn't spinning to I pressed the reset button and off it went. Sadly allthe machine did was push cat hair around.
Checked pre motor filter - not bad. Checked post motor filter - this could be a problem. It looks like someone has washed it as it was all matted.
I honestly can't remember how to get the filter out of it's housing!
The other thing is the cleaner head seems stuck.
Any ideas chaps???  :'(

Dc18,no suction issue from either head or wand, i thought this was caused by the change over peg on side onto the cup cam.
The peg will have snapped off. you can change it by hand to test but will be visible if peg has broken.
The only way to fail is not to try.

Cheers Ryevac.
I can't see anything broken. Loads of suction from the cyclone input pipe but it's not picking up.
I can't shift the head. The 2 buttons click but it will not budge. I reckon there could be a blockage down there somewhere.
I had no plans to sell the thing because nobody wants them, I was only going to use it upstairs.
This one may be a scapper!

Ironic i got one in today with no head action, mine is yoke cable, looked behind the ball assembly and the brown blue is out of its black sheath and copper showing so assume its knackered with no ~v on outlet.
Hate doing these as the main motor has to come out to replace the yoke cable.

A few pics here for you, pop the lhs wheel cover off and the peg is pictured, sounds like its jammed solid (no suction cause too) if the head cant be removed ? You should just push both grey buttons in and pull away - try a bit of force ?
Careful, may be full of solid cat shit !

you need to remove the rear hose support behind first i think, then you can rotate to unlock the cover.
