Higher power battery?
« on: November 02, 2019, 12:30:43 pm »
Hi all

My beloved DC30 handheld is not well and I think needs a new battery. I have another later model Dyson but the DC30 - despite its pitiful short running time - actually packs more punch so I'm loathed to let it go.

The current battery is a type B, 14.8v 1300mAh which is hard to source and expensive. Can anyone advise if I can upgrade to a higher voltage and mAh (eg the 22.2v 2000mAh) which is widely available? I've heard you can go higher on the mAh but not the voltage. Would it damage the machine? Would it even run?

Thank you.

A battery off another machine wont fit so you can’t simply get a higher voltage one. And in any event putting a higher voltage through a motor will kill it instantly, even if you were able to.

What you can do is get a battery with a higher MAH. We typically use 3000 MAH ones.

Beware though with aftermarket cordless Dyson batteries that you buy online it will be a complete lottery as to the quality of them.
