The other week, a reporter bloke from a news agency emailed me asking if I would do a story. The soft of filler story that hides a slow news week.
One thing led to another and I did a telephone interview last thursday lunchtime in the car, which went well, and the resultant article isn't too far off what I said either
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7685233/Man-obsessed-vacuum-cleaners-spends-25-years-building-100-strong-collection.htmlThey also did a video which I prefer! Shows the collection nicely too
When the photographer came round, it was a horrible dark rainy day. After being sent to 'my road' in the centre of oxford, he arrives 35 minutes later. I had my filming lights out as it was dark, and I was taking photographs. He came in and beamed into a smile and said in all the years he's been doing this gig, he's never showed up to someone with studio lights in their front room!
It was more natural for me on the video too. Despite him constantly saying Hoover, I stuck to the script and said Vacuum Cleaner, had a little rant, a little wander into the side of my mind and the shots he took are beautiful!
I chose the vacs carefully (and instantaneously too):
Dyson V11
My once mint but now ruddy faded Dyson DC01 Breakthrough
Mr Tayyab's Hoover Junior Dirtsearcher which he has never seen yet (it looks alot less faded in the video though I'm afraid...)
Hoover 875
All recognisable for the masses, with enough eye candy for us collectors. Speaking of pics...
