On an Evolution the foot operated switch is on the side and what happens is the chassis breaks internally so the switch moves when you are trying to depress it and doesn't move far enough to stay on. Sometimes you can fix the surrounding plastic somehow; sometimes not. You need to open it up to examine it.

many thanks Angus not sure if i am technically minded enough to strip it but i shall have a look, dont wish to bombard you with questions but i also have a sebo bs 36 the height adjuster seems ok and ive replaced the brush strip,it is an absolute pain trying to vacuum on any carpet that has a deeper pile but ok on flat carpets, really hard work pushing on the thinker ones?maybe i need to send both units in for a service,

The BS36 isn't designed for deep pile carpets so will be hard to push on them.

This does crop up occasionally with people who have bought a BS360 of a BS36.

hi thanks when i say deep i am not talking about a shag pile or anything that extreme just generally anything deeper than a regular cut pile carpet,i would have thought the evo and bs36 were similar in many ways and the difference between the 2 on these carpets are poles apart, evo will be on its way soon by the way
