MTR235 was a Quаltex part that has loooooooong since been discontinued.

What we do nowadays is spend half the price and buy this: Ametek Motor Kit Dyson DC04 Silver Lime

Are the Ametek motors powerful and reliable then the Ydk motors?

No. Literally millions of YDK motors were fitted to Dysons for a reason.

Hi I am new this community but my question regards what motor would a dyson dc04 Constant max use. I have fitted mine with a Ametek due to it having a dc07 motor fitted when I got it but I doubt this is correct as they have a down rated 1000 watt motor. so was wandering what the stamp mark would be for the 1000 watt motor compared to the YDK YV 511 used on clutched dc04s.
Any ideas would be very appreciated

I only recall YV-511 or the Ametek fitted to any DC04. I can’t think of having seen anything else fitted.

I’m inclined to think they had the Ametek fitted, but it’s been so long since we’ve had a Constant Max in for a motor I really can’t remember.

Does your constant max in your museum say 1000 watts on the ratings plate as mine does as this is where I’ve got the impression that it uses a unique down rated YDK or ametek motor of some sorts. There’s videos on YouTube with machines that seem to have the correct one as they seem deeper toned compared to non clutched 04 variants with the ametek

Our tech seems to think they have an Ametek in as I thought.

The one in our museum does say 1000w on it as you said.

Thanks for looking you’ve answered a burning question of mine which I’ve had since the day I got it about 3 years ago.
I’ll leave the ametek in it

Right then
I know a heck of a long time has passed but I’ve got myself another dc04 constant max in better and completely unfazed condition. This machine definitely has a different motor to the ametec one installed on the other as it sounds deeper toned. I have a wattage gauge so have tried both machines on that. Original one that I knows got an ametec in it pulls about 1050 watts when running whilst this new one I’ve got pulls between 850 and 870 watts. Really looking forward to seeing what it has inside of it maybe a special down rated ametec motor but I really don’t know at this point I just know it’s not a bod standard clutch less 04 motor
