Sebo X4 sensor turning off vac
« on: March 29, 2020, 09:42:25 pm »
I sucked up a strap to a handbag by accident.  I stopped the vac and pulled it out of the roller.  It worked for a bit then cut out.  I thought it might be a bad switch but it was not.  I took the vac apart.  When I was inside the machine I moved the drive belt and the sensor belt by hand to see if it could move freely.  It seemed fine.  I put the vac back together and it worked!  I used it for another 20 minutes then it cut out again.  I took it apart and repeated the above.  It worked again for a shorter time.

I feel I somehow I  damaged the sensor.  It is turning the vac off because it thinks there is a jam. Normally I would take it to my shop but we are currently under a "stay at home" situation in this part of the USA because of the pandemic.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Do you have any red warning lights coming on?

How long is it running for?

The Bag Full and Check Brush light flash one time when I flip the power switch.

When I thought I fixed it, as stated in my post, I managed to run it and vacuum a whole room.  It must have been over 20 minutes.  It acted and sounded normal.  Then, when I tuned it on again later, I heard the motor cut for a fraction of a second then it cut off completely with no lights flashing moments later.   When I took it apart again and moved the belts by hand, it ran for a few more seconds then died.

Filters and bag are relatively new.  No clogs that I can see.  When it ran, it cleaned like normal.

This is normal. If it does that and then runs OK, they do that.

This tells us it suddenly lost power. I think this is unrelated to what you caught up in it in the past. This is more likely a power cord issue.

Run the machine, grasp the power cord near where it enters the machine, wiggle it about slowly and see if the machine goes off. If it doesn't, move down the cable bit by bit wiggling an twisting it and see if it cuts off. If it does, it will be an internal break in the power cord.

I've taken the panel off and used a voltage meter and verified the the motor is getting power.  The cord nor the switch is the issue.  I verified this when it is not working.  I unplugged it and (carefully) poked and looked around.  I got it working again but I don't know what I did and for how long it will work.

I think I need a Sebo tech to meter the entire electric flow to see where the issue is.  I still believe the vac is getting a false reading that the roller is jammed.

Did you specifically do this?

Absolutely wiggled the cord.  Also, the cord is not even a year old.  I had it replaced last Summer.  Not that that means anything.
