Replacement motor for 80's Numatic (Henry)
« on: May 16, 2020, 09:11:26 pm »
Evening all,

I'm hoping there might be someone about who could kindly advise about a motor for my 1980's Numatic.  Long story short, the original motor had failed and unfortunately I no longer have it for reference.  The rating label is either missing or totally faded too.

Would love to get it back up and running again, but I know various motors have been used in these over the years.

Would anyone be able to tell from the pictures attached which type of motor I would need please?  Or even better, would anyone happen to have a used spare that I could purchase?  It looks like I would also need two rubber mounts to fit on top of the motor/fancase, but I do have the lower sealing ring.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Rob

Needs a DAF motor, probably easier getting a donor machine. Some eBay sellers have them secondhand though

Unless you seek originality, there is space in Henrys to put a variety of motors in. As noted, there’s a few different ones originally. If you have some rubbers and motors from other machines, you can play around and find a set up that’s a snug fit.

If you don’t have some rubbers and motors from other machines, your local vacuum shop will have. They’ve probably seen all the variants and know what fits what.

That said, someone here may have one.

I may have posted this before ? i had a guy get in touch who was a cobbler.
His shoe USA grinding station, used a henry type vac in a strange metal housing.
It was used to suck all the muck off the grinding wheel, however when i stripped it discovered it was a very old lamb motor, and a strange physical external size in comparison to modern replacement motors.

What i managed to do was keep the casing and fit a modern motor internal, but i had to replace the bearings to suit the new inards. worked well and a lucky escape
The only way to fail is not to try.
