Sebo Felix 1 Premium, Vogue model

Thanks to Stuart, and Parwaz, I think, I ultimately decided to go against the other half’s wishes of not wanting a bagged cleaner, and ended up acquiring a lightly abused Felix Vogue from Germany!
After giving it a damn good disinfecting and clean, removing a minor blockage (whilst curiously inspecting) from the head, it was immediately drafted into usage within the hour.

At first, the head gave pause for concern when the brush bar wouldn’t stay engaged, but after using it on the bottom stair, with it hanging in free air after coming off the edge, it eventually worked perfectly.
No further drama afterwards on the tile floor in the kitchen, nor the carpet upstairs… and the mattresses.

As a result, first impressions are that it’s definitely a decent vacuum, easily manoeuvrable, gets under the beds more than the Dyson DC33 could, and, even on setting 1, didn’t prove too hard to push/pull on what I’d consider to be medium pile carpet.
The exhaust filter is off, having been washed, and the section de-carboned… the yellow microfibre was a much blacker shade afterwards!

Once the novelty factor and honeymoon period ends, it’ll be interesting to see what my impression of it is then. You know what they say… familiarity breeds contempt.
The only slight negative I can see, is that on full extension, the shaft definitely has some flex in it, which can be a bit disconcerting.

One question, which hopefully someone can chime in with an answer to, is… what does one use on the bearing when putting the brush back or replacing with a new one?
Don’t have anything other than WD40, and was reluctant to use it. So, for now, it’s dirty, possibly a bit gritty, in need of a clean and -relub’ing.

Just thinking of another question… soft dusting brush. Sebo’s or Miele’s Sub20 – which is the better option?
Had the Dyson one, when I had the DC39 Animal, which, from memory, was just alright.

Didn't you find it annoying and tiring while vacuuming mattresses?

I do find Sebo's dusting brush a bit average. Bristles are too long and sometimes you might end up with dirt getting trapped on them.
I can recommend you these adapters. You can basically use any tool with Sebo by using them.. but not Miele's. Miele’s Sub20 isn't going to fit SEBO without an adapter..

Not really, but then the mattresses are viscoelastic (memory foam), so it was really only the topper/protector on ours. The others are fitted sheet over the covering, each of which had been washed/put on only a few days previously, so I simply vacuumed through them.
Dust mites can’t live in foam, which probably made vacuuming those a wee bit redundant, but I suppose it was a bit of a suck-it-and-see exercise for how the ET-1’s motorised brush would handle the task, and getting an overall idea about the machine.

I’ve only seen one seller provide any dimensions, stated as 28-37mm. That would infer that the tool has a tapered interior, and if the case, then the Sebo’s 36.5mm metal hose part might just slip in. If not, then it’d have to be additional expense for a stepped adapter cut to the correct diameter.

Answering my query about the bearing, Sebo UK informed me that they just clean them and are self lubricating, so there’s no need to apply anything.

That's true. PTFE if you want to use anything.

In terms of dusting brushes and mattresses. We have these:

Bigger dusting brush

Dyson style Dusting tool

Dyson style mattress tool

And the adaptors referred to above that allow you to use anything 32mm or anything Dyson:

Thanks Stuart, I knew about the existing options, it’s just that the Dyson one failed to impress me enough to be the default choice, and here (or elsewhere), there were comments about the Sebo's bristles being sucked into the airstream; exactly the same as I’ve experienced with Dyson's combi tool.
I like the idea of a longer brush, plus the Miele’s articulation means it’s ideal for the top of wardrobes and the like.

I was thinking along the lines of PTFE or lithium, so thanks for confirming some can be used, even if only for peace of mind.

I get your thinking. From an engineering mindset, you expect to use a lubricant of some type where the manufacturers say none is strictly called for. And we see why as in the application you mention there are no ball bearings. But that tricky fixed bearing......  :chuckle:

You know heavy oils like gear oil will gel up under heat, even light oils like 3 in 1 and WD40 will heat up and gel up or clog up - then attract dust and go solid. PTFE or silicone based high temperature products are the answer. WD40 do a high temperature PTFE one I like (I've only found it at our local engineering supplies place). We also use high temperature silicone white grease in some applications.
