Dc27 actuator arm and clutch cover

Evening gents. I've just fitted a new motor to my dc27. The strip down was a bit of a pig but the rebuild is worse! I've fallen at the last hurdle.... I'm having problems refitting the clutch cover and actuating arm. Can anyone give me any guidance before I Wang it through a window! Do I refit the clutch cover first? It doesn't seem to want to fit properly and I can't get it to mate up with the actuator arm. Any help would be gratefully received. Also I forgot to tape the connectors together on the motor..... Do you think I should strip it back down and tape them up?
Many thanks
Many thanks!

Mate.... Thanks for replying! I've done.... Brute force and ignorance!! It was a pig to rebuild......just getting the clear moulding off the brush head was the worst bit. Love Dysons.... Hate the way they're put together!
