Author Topic: Sebo Felix Pet cutting out (Read 3284 times)

I have a Sebo Felix Pet which is over 10 years old and the motor in the base unit has started cutting out. As soon as I lower the handle to vacuum carpet, the green light goes off, the red light comes on and the brush stops turning. I’ve checked for blockages and there are none.
Any help would be appreciated.

Is the brush bar turning freely by hand? I would suggest removing the brushroll entirely and checking for any build up of debris or damage to the bearings. It sounds like the brush bar is stalling which is causing the motor to cut out. Usually happens when it is forced to slow down, say, a jam caused by a sock or rug end, or if there is too much dirt & hair built up in the end bearings, this will also prevent it from turning freely

Thanks for your help. The brush bar turns freely and there is nothing visible causing a jam. How can I check if the bearings are worn?

There's a small wiring loom that can break that feeds the head. It could be that.

Thanks. Which wiring loom is that? Is it the wires that run down inside the swivel head or the short wires that makes the connection when the neck is lowered?

Is your brush bar old? Sometimes when there is not enough friction on the brush bar the red light will come on which would suggest the bristles are too short on the brush.

Other than that it could be a PCB or motor problem and as there is power going to the head it is unlikely to be the loom.

We really can't be sure without inspecting the full machine ourselves.

I have recently replaced the brush bar and also the PCB. The brush starts to turn so the motor is working then it cuts out and the red light comes on. Any thoughts?

It wasn’t the wiring loom. The brush bar turns and then cuts out. I’m going to check the bearings.

Possibly brush roll motor as you suggest then. Especially if you have changed the PCB already. If you've discounted the looms that feed it, there's only the motor left really.

They're not cheap new, but depending which one is fitted, we might have a good used one at happier money. They very seldom fail.
