X1 height adjustment issue (new part)
« on: August 04, 2020, 05:08:09 pm »
I happily repaired our X1, I replaced the servo motor box with a new one for height adjustment, and while I know it sometimes is annoying depending on the type of floor and evenness of the floor to raise height it was working all good for about three months.  Suddenly the other day the unit does not want to adjust, it has remained in the highest position and will not go down.

I understand that people have 'played' with the adjustment servo before, but this is a brand new one and if it has failed then I shall have it replaced. However, could it be something else?  I know there should be two magnets in the unit to make it work, and one below for full height adjustment.

Any guidance gratefully appreciated.

A new servo unit won’t have failed, I’d expect 10 plus years from one. I’ve never seen a prematurely faulty one - never.

Did you change the brushroll? If not, read this. If that X1 has white bristles, or you are not aware that it has ever had a new one, change it.

A dislodged magnet is another possibility. Do you know where they are?

I did change it a while ago, however I do have a spare one in the loft so can change it again just to be on the safe side.

As with the magnets, I know you have the upright magnet on the swivel neck and the two magnets on the part that is around the rubber belt. I will take the cover off and check tomorrow and report back.

Finally managed to take a look at the machine, you were indeed correct the roller was rather worn by 6mm.  I have replaced it with a new one.  However, this hasn't fixed the issue.

I looked at the machine the magnet on the swivel neck is in place as are the two magnets on the (unknown name part) around the belt.

When I attempt to use the machine it stays in the upright position and nothing happens.  When I put it back in the upright position after a brief passing of time the check brush light now flashes.

When it is reclined, is it lowering at all or not?

When you say the brush light flashes, do you mean flashes (as in on and off repeatedly) or do you mean it just blinks once?
