Replacing DC04?

Spoke too soon about the DC14 - started making a weird noise before I'd finished hoovering the house I'm in Dundee if you know anyone who would repair a DC04 in the area.

Helpful link - thanks. At least some of the carpet is loop pile - so do I want to use a clutched vacuum set to the hard floor setting (wjere the brush is lifted)?

That's too cheap to be reconditioned properly. Think 13% eBay/Paypal seller fees, leaves him £60. Say he paid a tenner for the raw machine, that leaves him £50.

Ouch am I pricing a little too cheap then?! I sold a refurbed DC14 for £55, and I make sure its done properly, full strip down and rebuilt properly and everything cleaned out properly. I do sometimes use a used motor but only if its in a really good condition, otherwise I put in a new motor!

Its just a question of numbers and how much you need to make really.

Same here, depends on your location and local idiotbook beer bums selling them for next to nothing.

The last one i sold was mint, new motor etc etc... i had it for sale for months and had to let it go for about £45/£50.

Similarly, we don't send them out any more, we just have a handful for the shop floor. There's not enough money in them really. Service work and repairs are a better use of the workshop.

We still do recon Sebos, subject to availability, but we get better money for those so its more worthwhile.
