Do I need a new post-motor filter?

Had a DC07 for many many years and cleaned the filters twice a month (trust me it needs it in my house , 6 people, 2 very messy dogs and a cat. ) and I've noticed it smells like old people/burning so I took out the post-motor filter and its black and very dusty  so do I need a new one or will this do for another couple of months?
