« on: October 10, 2020, 09:30:48 pm »
Hi can anyone help here . my v8 brush head won't spin in fact both of them don't am actually getting power to the bin terminals as well I attached two wires from a 12volt adapter to the brush heads which made them spin with no problem but as soon as I attached them back to the dyson unit they don't spin at all

You are trying this with or without the pole on?

Its without the pole am attaching the brush heads straight to the bin .I have also attached two wires to the front of the bin and there's definitely a current going through and I also had both  brushes working by been plugged into a 12v adapter with wires placed on the two silver prongs at the back of the brush

What's the voltage should I be getting passing through the bin the front terminals where the brush slots into ?

Are you saying you have attached the brush head directly to the bin and the head doesn't work ?

I dont think there is a readable voltage on the bin terminals - i believe (but i could be wrong) it is open collecter and the brush motor completes the drive circuit ?

Yes that's right the brush is attached to the bin socket and the brush doesn't spin both brushes are very clean as well I took them apart to clean as I said earlier the brushes do work when I attached to wires from a 12v adapter to the brushes the span no problem

i would say hand unit has failed then. i aint sure if the v8 can be stripped a bit further like the v6. Difficult to explain but there is a plastic tool (some use long nose pliers) to rela#ease a large circlip exposing dc connections  on the outside of main body

The unit works as normal its just when I attached the brush head it doesn't spin at all I've managed to got into the back of it where the DC terminals are I actually attached two wires from the DC terminals to the brush prongs and it worked fine the brush span and the motor worked fine it just doesn't work when attached to the bin

oh, sorry i see... i misunderstood.

there must be bad connection or open circuit cable then on the bin rim.

have you seperated the cyclone assembly from the main hand unit ?

Yes I have managed to do that .when I press the trigger you can hear a little kick from the brush as its going to start then nothing .its definitely not jammed or anything as it spins freely when I connect it to my 12v adapter. And there's an electrical current going right through to the bin pin holes at the front as I've tested with a meter reading
