Filter Pads DC05 and DC08 filter Holder

Hi Dyson fans when fitting Dyson post motor pads, which are said to be kinder than the HEPA filters to the vacuums motor. The Dyson DC08, DC05, DC19 Vacuum Cleaner Post Motor Filter Scrim Holder is recommended to hold the pad in position this is Dyson part number 904931-01.
I have also fitted post motor pads to my DC07 and DC14, but there is no mention of a pad holder being used when fitting these pads to the Dyson upright cleaners doe anyone know the reason why ?

The filter holder / support is not required in the upright models as the exhaust cover is shaped as such to hold the pad in place. On the cylinder models the exhaust cover is not shaped as such and requires extra support

Thanks for the answer  dysondestijl, the filter pads for Dyson cleaners come with a coarse side and a more smooth side. Does anyone know how they should be fitted, is it coarse side down or smooth side down ?

Hi Graham, usually it’s coarse side down, smooth side up, depending on what brand of filters you are using (whether it’s genuine Dyson or not) the coarse side is actually smaller than the smooth side (it’s two pieces of filter material stuck together) to allow it to fit in the smaller diameter exhausts on the DC07 & DC14
