red latch to release hose

Hi

Dyson DC41 model

I can't seem to release the red latch to remove the hose even though I know I've done this once before. The hose refuses to come out when I lift the red tab to release it. I'm worried that I've somehow broken the latch. Has anyone else found this – all answers welcome.

They can be stiff when they get jammed with muck.

Our chap says: bung some WD40 or similar round the sides, leave overnight. Then depress the clip and remove with brute force if still stuck.
