DC20 Floor Head
« on: February 07, 2021, 04:23:00 pm »
The 'square' profile hose on my DC20 Stowaway Floor Head is damaged and as far as I can see, it's not a replaceable part or even repairable. I can't see how it is removable in any case. The complete floor head (carpet and hard floor) is very expensive to replace and used ones probably have the same weakness. Is there an alternative floor tool / head that will fit? I have a DC05 also but the head attachment or the wand are not compatible even with a conversion tool. -It's hard to tell which conversion tool is needed from the internet. Does anyone have a solution? I've got a DC08 wand also but the wand will fit the DC05 ( by removing the banana piece from the Dc05) but will not fit the DC20.

Does your spare DC08 wand have a floor tool attached?

Unfortunately not. Just the wand. Both the DC05 and DC20 are in full working order with floor heads & small attachments, the DC20 main head is damaged as shown previously. I even have a dual surface second floor head for the DC05 but like I said I cant find a convertor or a series of convertors to fit this to the DC20.

The head does strip down, but its not straightforward. Nobody makes that square hose. We considered making it once, but as fitting it is not an amateur job it would have caused more trouble than it was worth with returns, etc.

Buying the correct head is the answer. IIRC the colours are all obsolete and all silver ones are all that's available. But these will fizzle out as Dyson support for that model has finished. Which means when the parts are gone, they're gone.

Thanks for the info. Clearly a 'square' hose is a design flaw as it has 'corners' unlike a traditional hose but it also seems made of thinner material unfortunately.
