DC17 Animal - Brushbar Reset arm
« on: October 11, 2011, 03:38:03 am »
If you look in the 3rd message in the exploded diagrams on this forum there's a "Brushbar Reset arm"

I started working on this vac over a month ago- then the US was hit by Irene and I was flooded... I am finally getting back to it and I can't remember WHERE this came from.... the exploded diagram is little help....

Anyone know?

Thanks!

We don't have the DC17 in the UK, so forgive me if I am a little hazy here, but from what info I do have, it is part number 911746-01 and is this bit numbered 46:

It appears to go in the switch housing and is an actuator arm for the smaller of the two switches to reset the brush roll.

Does that help?

Anyone reading that is familiar with DC17's, please chip in.  :icon_nod:

Yep=- it definitely goes in the switch housing and it's definitely for the reset button... what I can't figure out is, with the clip around the buton, there seems to be no angle that doesn't prevent the switch housing from closing. It seems to me that this probably saves me having to open it to reset the brushroll- so if I skip it, the worst thing that happens is I have to re-open it.
