What Tools / Parts for a Strip/Clean/Refurb
« on: December 10, 2021, 02:50:25 pm »
Just bought a 2nd hand DC14 clutch model (Animal I think, purple and grey). It's well-used and works fine but it's a bit smelly.

Only faults I've noticed so far are that a clip on the top under the handle that should hold one of the tools is broken off (doesn't matter much) and the filter cover underneath the waste bin looks to have a bit snapped of at one side where it should fit over a tab (don't know if this matters).
What tools will I need to strip and clean it? And what if any likely necessary spares should I have to hand?
Don't want to get part way and find I need something that'll take ages to get hold of.

A torx 15 screwdriver is essential.
As for spares you’ll definitely want a new internal hose and exhaust filter. You might as well replace both filters whilst you’re at it, they’ve probably never been cleaned properly

Don't forget the belt lifter tool. It's really a treat to own one. Especially if you're fitting a new clutch.

The DC07 and DC14 in my opinion were the best of the uprights they ever made.
The uprights that followed were pretty grim in comparison.

Absolutely agree.

DC01 and DC04 were good too.

Dc33 is good as well.

Never used a DC27 but I imagine it performs like the DC33.
