Author Topic: DC 39 motor pulses, no suction (Read 716 times)

My DC39 has good suction with the canister removed (hand over inlet good vacuum). But with canister there is no suction and motor or suction sound "pulses" .
I cannot find any blockages.
Any suggestions on what to look for?

Underneath where the canister sits, there is a small, narrow piece of flexible hose. They always block up there. Check that. Alternatively the filter might be clogged solid. Give it a thorough wash

Thanks. Not the flexible hose below canister (I have cleaned a lot of them!). Also, seems to not be the filter, I washed that thoroughly to start with.
So I tried a DC54 canister on the DC39 - good suction, no pulsing. Then tried the DC39 canister on the DC54 - worked with no pulsing. BUT the DC39 with DC39 canister still pulses. I might have to disassemble the DC39 canister.

I now think it might be the filter. I washed it until nothing more came out, with no improvement. I then cleaned it with vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. A lot more dirt was removed. I think it may have been used for plaster dust or similar. It worked better after the second clean. I am now waiting for a new filter to see what happens.
