Whilst trying to replace the handle on my Vax 4000 (2300) I wrote down the colour of the wires to the speed controller knob. However I
lost it - I should have taken a photo. Does anyone know which way round the wires go please? There is a white wire and a black wire - the tabs on the pcb are labelled W and N.

I'd try it on spec. There's a 50% chance you'll be right the first time.
Theoretically, black would be the load in, but if it's just a two-wire rheostat or potentiometer, polarity shouldn't matter.
