Sebo X4 not powering up
« on: May 15, 2022, 01:07:28 pm »
Hello,

I have a Sebo X4 with no power and the bag full and check brush lights are flashing.
Recently cleared clogs from several places and changed a worn brush. It operated fine for a short while after this.
Sometimes starts and runs but seems a bit short on power.

It’s a good few years old now.

Thanks

That sounds like one of the PCBs.

Take the top off and look at the side one first. Does anything look burned or black? Are both belts in place?

Thanks for the reply.

No obviously black or burned PCBs.
I felt a bit daring and removed the motor, then run the motor without the belts.
Quite a fireworks display with sparks.

I have since removed the motor brushes which look very worn (15 year old machine). Ordered new brushes and hoping I can put the thing together again.

For anyone who might be interested the new carbon motor brushes appear to have fixed the problem.

The Sebo is powering up and running well with no warning lights.
Automatic height adjustment also still working OK.

Some burnt electrical smell, but i’m hoping it’s just some dislodged dust in the motor.

If it goes on fire I will let you know :o
