Funny noise on my Dyson after motor swap
« on: November 12, 2011, 07:38:39 pm »
HI GUYS
i have recently started to put dc04 511 motors into my dc07 s
i have done about 10 now i have had about 3 out of the 10 that make a humming noise ,
its some thing to do with the motor change i am doing .i put the 511 motor in the rubbers then spray i bit of wd40
on the rubber to make it slide ,i have used Vaseline same thing is it me, i think the ydk motor is slightly bigger
i have a load of these 511 motors this is a good way to move them
 have you any thoughts
i know you will have some answers you have helped me before

The motors are the same dimensions.

By "humming" do you mean the famous DC07 Dyson motor howl?  :))

I have just read a pre copy of Angus Black's new DC07 workshop manual and he covers this in there. I dunno if I should tell the trade secret.  :-X

We put the buggers up for sale and promptly sold them all.  :))

We are waiting on another [bigger] box coming hopefully this week. Damn DPD couriers have erroneously returned another box to sender too - hence why we ran out.  :D

That's a pretty cool tip eh?  ;D

We share most info here - but that one, in light of the book launch, was one little trade secret I was a bit cautious about revealing in public so as not to steal any of Angus's thunder.
