DC04 DC04 Cyclone Top
« on: November 17, 2022, 02:01:25 pm »
Hi

I would be very grateful for some help. I have broken the housing of the top of my Dyson DC04. This is what it looks like:

Is this the correct replacement https://shop.manchestervacs.co.uk/dyson-upright-vacuum-cleaner-spares/dc04-spares/dc04-cyclone-release-catch ? The cone looks undamaged. Is it an easy repair for me to make?

Thanks very much.

I had taken it off the machine and was starting to clean it. I put it on a work service and it slipped off and hit a wooden floor.

I though I would have to buy a new machine so many thanks to your team for all the help I received in getting a new one.

 ;)

DC04's are near indestructible, along with DC07's. I still service/repair the odd one, though I suspect some long term owners ditch them when they get elderly and want a lighter machine. The only thing that might eventually kill them off is the cost of replacement clutches: there don't seem to be many recycled ones around now, and the new one are £35: they used to be under £20.

That’s good to hear. i think mine must be about 17 years old. Could that be right? It is very heavy but otherwise an excellent machine.

The DC04 came out in 1998, so it could be up to 24 years old.

I've got about 250 rebuilt ones waiting for when Dyson discontinues them.  8)

I'd imagine that'll be when they cease support for the DC33, shouldn't be too long to wait before you can recoup your investment.
How much will they be selling for?

I don't know really, whatever the market will stand. Depends on who else has some left or hoarded. As you know, rebuilding them is a fiddly job.

Dyson have stopped supporting the DC33 now unfortunately so it’s officially the end of all the old reliable models!
