Suction Diversion ?
« on: March 03, 2023, 06:17:29 pm »
Hi,
I recently changed the drive belt and the brush holder with parts from Manchester Vacs.
Back to working, however I have noticed that when the DC04 is and powered up in it's upright position there is very little suction from the hose.
There is plenty of suction from the dirt collector when part "71" is removed.
Is there a valve or director that changes where the suction goes to as you change from an upright to a "carpet cleaning" position ? I can't detect any leaks from the joints, just no 'suck' at the end point.
Thanks, Graham.

The changeover mechanism is the carriage mechanism, which is the bit the removable valve cover (2 buttons) on the side clips into. I'd suspect something has come adrift there.

Also, make sure you haven't lost the removable u-bend underneath at the back. Many people do, and if so, that means no back hose suction.

Thank you I'll have a good round there.
The "U" bend is definitely in place.
Regards, Graham.

Apologies for the very long delay in responding.
The changeover mechanism seems to work well and blocks/unblocks the feed tubes.
I replaced the drive belt to the clutch after I got a new one from you and I'm guessing that I must have got something out of alignment on the clutch as operating it, does not disengage the rolling brush, nor does putting it in the upright position.
The fact that that is continually running, even when in the 'upright' position, could that effect the suction as the roller is continually running ?
Thanks, Graham.

It sounds like you've certainly got something wrong during assembly. The clutch permanently running wouldn't affect suction, but it does show something is wrong there.

I'd disassemble it all again, and refer to Beko's rebuild topic when reassembling.

There's also a clutch rebuild topic >here< if needed.
