New to this forum and I live in the UK
I posted my questions elsewhere not a single reply, wish I had tried here first.
I resurrected my Dyson DC08 Animal Cylinder after 5 years in storage. At the time of storing it had stopped working properly, machine kept turning on and off as it got hot.
Recently stripped it and have to say I'm ashamed, the muck inside, bad but none of the cyclone tubes were blocked.
I washed all parts, looks now like they has come off the factory floor.
12 years ago Dyson replaced the original motor with the one in front of me, a YDK YV 2201 BC11 240, I am assuming it's a 1400w motor?.
As the DC08 was switching off/on as it got hot and cold and while filthy inside but not blocked I'm thinking either the TOC or a knackered motor, plenty of life in the brushes.
I am going to rebuild as is and see if my efforts has resolved the issue.
The motors are cheap enough from you and come complete but there are so many after market ones.
I have read a number of reviews, it appears some YDK replacement motors last 6 months others seem to keep going, what should I avoid?
More then happy as required to do a like for like swap but read a couple of posts elsewhere who upgraded the motor to 1600w, how easy an upgrade/swap would that be and what 1600w motor for the DC08, if a viable swap.
