Dyson vacuum date of manufacture?
« on: December 08, 2011, 07:54:00 pm »
Is there any way of determining the date of manufacture. Is there a date code anywhere on the vacuums, or can it be determined by serial number? If by serial number, does anyone have the reference other than Dyson?  Thanks

We don't have access to that information , even though it does exist!  If anyone else can help on this topic, please do!

There is no date code that I ever noticed. Official Dyson dealers will likely have access to serial number information as they can log into some kind of mainframe at Dyson that gives certain information that isn't available to the public.

Its not something we ever really needed as we can identify a version of machine - where parts differ - by specification.

I called Dyson service and provided my serial number, they in turn were able to give me the year of manufacture. Was just curious, as I buy well used DC25's and rebuild them. More of a hobby than anything, my whole family will have one by the time I'm done lol...  Thank you for the quick replies!   :tiphat:

I've noticed that on the bottom of the clutch it usually has a year stamped on it, so assuming it was installed when the machine was first assembled, it should give an indication of age.

Obviously if it's been replaced or you have a non-clutch model this doesn't help at all but I though it was worth a mention anyway  ;D

I found a DC07 with 2009 stamped on it but wasn't sure if the made them that late??

Maybe it had a replacement clutch under warranty?
