Manchester Vacs News
« on: February 17, 2012, 07:54:11 pm »
Our plan with this topic is to add posts about new events that may be of interest. If something is on offer, something is no longer available or we stock a new line, etc. It will keep our forum readers up to date with any news.

First item: We have now finally run out of some new DC01 parts: the new DC01 combined fixed base and sole plates we imported. They look like this......

If you do not know the difference between the two types, there is a topic here: Dyson DC01 Variants: Fixed and Swivelling Sole Plates -- The Differences. The swivelling type we still have.

We are also out of YDK type DC01 motors. We still have some used Ametek ones.

There is a topic about the supply of DC01 and DC02 parts here: Dyson Discontinue Support and Parts Supply for the DC01 and DC02

Nobody that we can find now has the DC01 YDK motor or the fixed sole plate in stock. We will of course get some good ones from old machines we dismantle, and we will be starting a "wants" book for anyone waiting for them. If you need a DC01 YDK motor or a fixed sole plate, to get on the list for a used one, contact Claire in our shop. Our contact details are >>here<< and please make sure you send us a number too.

The DC01 parts page has been updated today. Some new parts have gone down in price, some stuff that is unavailable now has a link to shoot us an email to get on the waiting list to be informed when we get a used one.

The good news is that we got a fresh batch of DC01 brush rolls in yesterday that I thought had finished.

Our Dyson trade tool set looks like this:

Recently, we were not able to get the Draper screwdrivers we need fast enough, or in the quantities we need from our regular tool suppliers.

We didn't want to use cheaper, inferior brands like Silverline (because our tech said they were rubbish and people might complain). So what we did was approach Draper themselves. Eventually, they agreed to supply us direct.

What this means to you is that all the torx screwdrivers we now supply in our trade tool kits are Draper ones; the T8, T10 and the T15. The latter two are still tamper-proof tips. All are the better spec ones are now with the strengthened tips. All three now match each other in your tool box. We supply this stuff to the trade, and you guys expect good quality stuff that lasts.

The other good news is, although we have increased the quality, we haven't increased the price because we have cut out the middle man.

We have a new line: Dyson DC33 and DC33i rear back telescopic hoses.

They are superb quality after-market items claimed to exceed the quality of the originals.  To us they look like OEM, but we haven't confirmed that yet.

As usual we are happy to beat the price of the larger sellers.  Dyson charge £25.21 including delivery for one of theirs, Espares charge £27.48 including delivery for oner of theirs.

Ours look like this-

We are charging just £23.50 including UK delivery.  ;D

As we don't have a specific DC33 parts page on our site yet, if you want one, you can click this link to put one straight in your shopping cart: >>Buy DC33 Back Hose<<

We came by a very very clean Dyson DC01 De Stijl in recent days. They look like this:

It has not only all the original tools and adaptor, but even the flat floor tool that originally came with these models.

We will of course be stripping and reconditioning it and it will be rebuilt and fitted with new filters and belts etc.

These are very thin on the ground now and are becoming quite collectible in this condition. If you want a piece of Britain's manufacturing heritage, where practicality meets retro chic, get in touch with us.

Today, we got a big box of new (OEM we think) DC01 front bumpers (furniture guards) in yellow to suit swivel-soleplate models (Original part number: 900526-01). They will be going on our DC01 page over the weekend.

We got quite a good price on them considering they are now totally obsolete from Dyson and pretty much unavailable anywhere.

Today we added 'upgrade to first class', 'upgrade to first class recorded delivery' and 'upgrade to Yodel/DHL' in addition to the existing 2nd class 'free' shipping method on all parts orders.

It is simply to give those in a rush some more options. If you are happy to wait a day or two for parts that arrive by 2nd class mail, delivery is still free.

We actually sold that one last week to someone in Scotland (my bad - I didn't update), but I *think* we have another one tucked away in the back we haven't done yet. Give Claire a call between 10-3 any day but Wednesday and she'll work a deal out with you. Failing which, she will take your number and call you when we next get one in to do.
