We have had a few problems recently with Yodel (formerly DHL 48).

It seems we are not alone:

Quote
Ever felt utter frustration when you've waited all day, and taken time off work, for a non-existent delivery? Well, that seems a common source of pain among those who've waited for items from delivery giant Yodel.

The firm, which makes deliveries on behalf of well-known high street and online brands such as Amazon, Boots, Currys and O2, has been the subject of floods of complaints.

We put the long list of complaints to Yodel chief executive Jonathan Smith to find out what's going on — see our Q&A below. He didn't apologise for the problems customers have faced, but did explain why some people find parcels have been left with neighbours they may never have met before.

Common problems include:

  • Online tracking showing packages have been signed for when they've never arrived.
  • Tracking wrongly stating Yodel has attempted delivery.
  • Parcels left with neighbours or on doorsteps without the customer's consent.
  • Yodel customer services unable to locate parcels.

So we have switched all our machine deliveries to UPS (who are generally awesome), mid size parcels to City Link, TNT and occasionally Fedex (who are all quite good) and small parcels (like motors, etc.) to Collect+ (who are faster than Royal Mail with most items).

We have now dumped Yodel completely for unreliability and damage to goods. We have put them in the same category as MyHermes: not fit for purpose.

It reflects badly on us if we use a known bad courier. None of them get it right every time. But UPS/TNT/City Link/Fedex/Collect+ seem to get it right most of the time.

Today we came across a handful of 110v American specification DC25 main motors, cleaner head PCB's and brushbar motors.

If you happen to have a 110v machine and need any of those, get in touch.

This Easter weekend, we have brand new DC25's on offer at £199 - That's £160 cheaper than on Dyson's website!

They have a one year warranty from us on them (Dyson won't honour the standard warranty on these as they are imports from abroad)

They are not on our site as we only have three and they will probably go this weekend.

Call ahead if travelling a long distance.

Opening times: Saturday 10-4, Bank holiday Monday 10-4. You can click here for our location and other info for visitors.

Edit: These are now sold

We are dismantling it for spare parts in case anyone needs anything from it.

Ever wonder where the discarded bits from all the old Dysons go?

Not in the bin or to landfill anyway............

Ours go to a plastics recycler. This was a load of Dyson bits we sent away for recycling today.

Those skips are about two meters tall and about seven meters long. We filled half of one. That's a lot of plastic.  :dead-dyson:

An unusual deviation for us, but we have happened upon a box of Oreck XL brushrolls.

We only have the one box as a one off, so they are on eBay to clear at £12.99 including UK delivery (cheapest on eBay).

Should anyone happen to need one, you can find them here: Oreck XL Brushroll.

If visiting our shop (which means we don't need to mail them out and pay seller fees), they are £10.

Today we have launched our massively upgraded Dyson spare parts online shop: Dyson Spare Parts.

The new shop has much upgraded functionality:

  • We can now accept world orders, with delivery charges automatically calculated
  • We have lowered many prices
  • We now accept American Express in addition to Mastercard, Visa, Maestro and Paypal Express for online payments
  • The new shop has had more models of machines added - uprights right up to DC50, and some extra cylinder models too.
  • The new shop now has a very funky predictive search facility.
  • We have changed our delivery model. Instead of "free delivery", there is now a £2.99 UK flat delivery charge on orders below £25. Orders above £25 remain free UK delivery. This has allowed us to reduce the price of many small items so anyone buying more than one item pays less overall
  • We have also extended the lines of Dyson spares we sell by hundreds of items
  • There is now an optional customer account feature, so customers can track orders and view previous orders, etc.
  • We now have many automated backside tools like shipping notifications, etc.

Our excellent site techs have been working on the new part of the site for about two months, and we have been testing it and ironing out little niggles the past two weeks or so. So we are pretty confident it will work just fine.

If you do spot any problems, find something that doesn't work, something we could do better or even if you see a spelling mistake, do please tell us either here or via our Contact page.

 :tiphat:

We have a local radio ad running on Revolution 96.2 in Manchester.

If you want to listen to it, you can click the attachment below.

Today we have come by some lavender/purple coloured ten metre flexes.

ila_rendered

These are actually for Kirby machines (hence the kettle type plug on one end) - but were made by mistake in the wrong colour for Kirbys (which usually have red or black flexes).

So we managed to wangle them off the supplier at cheaper money, as many Dysons are lavender and/or purple.  :-X

Here is the good bit: They are just £8.99

We have a few hundred of them only; so when they're gone, they're gone.

If you want one, you can get one here: Replacement Extra-Long 10m Dyson Compatible Flex.

Starting over the weekend, our techs are going to start moving the site over to dedicated hosting servers.

If the site behaves erratically over the next few days, or you encounter any 'page not found' errors or similar this is why.
