Quite by chance today, I was in a queue at one of our motor suppliers that we collect from. I was leafing through a years old dog-eared parts book they had lying around to stave off the boredom. I spotted a DC01 YDK armature.  :o

When I finally got served, I casually asked if they still had any. I was expecting howls of laughter and comments like "Not seen those since 2008 mate", but to my surprise, they said, "Yes, we still have some of those".  ;D  Naturally, I bagged some on the spot.  ;)

We did have to blow the dust off the boxes though....... inside they are wrapped in grease paper like stuff used to be......

Here is one:

This is a boon!  :icon_nod:  DC01 YDK YV-940 motors are now unavailable anywhere; original or after-market. We even keep a waiting list for good used ones.

We can get the carbon brushes no problem, but the armatures have always been a bit elusive. Lots of people claim to stock them, but when you ask, they have magically run out at that very moment.  ::)

But, we actually have them. They are now on our UK page here: Dyson DC01 Motor Armature.

As I know there are *many* DC01's overseas with expats, they are also on our foreign facing page here: Dyson DC01 Motor Armature Non UK.

We'll keep the old DC01's working even if Dyson have abandoned them.

Great news! That solves the unavailable motors problem. They are not that difficult to strip down. I see it comes with both bearings too - nice.  :icon_nod:

We have sold quite a few of these now, and also fitted some.

If anyone is interested in a tutorial to strip the motor and fit the new armature, we can do that as we are doing them quite often now.

Please mention on the topic here if you want to see a tutorial for this.

People are sending us emails asking for a tutorial.

We will put a photo tutorial together for this job in the next couple of weeks.
