Wand 'Tube' appears to be too long?
« on: March 14, 2012, 10:51:12 am »
I'm trying to sort out a DC01 for a couple that I look after as a carer.

The lady of the household told me that although the upright function of the cleaner was fine, but the tools connected to the 'wand' section wouldn't work. It was only after I'd stripped and cleaned the obvious parts that I noticed that the bottom end of the rigid tube that's attached to the wand handle and runs through the flexible pipe was sticking through the bottom of the rubber 'seal/stop. Therefore it was past the channel that is part of the suction process and in effect, blocking it.

When I mentioned this they then said that some pieces had been 'cannibalised' from another machine, but they couldn't remember which.

Can anybody tell me the length of the original and correct rigid pipe which will allow me to ascertain if I can cut a piece off the one they have, or another possible solution?

Thanks

Is the machine a fixed soleplate one do you know?

I have (with the help from another thread on this site) solved the problem. I'm afraid I was being a bit of a dope in not spotting that when the solid tube was in situ, it acted as a blocking mechanism, thus allowing the 'upright' part of the cleaner to work and then when using the wand, the tube had to be pulled out in order that the suction could reach the tube.

Tried it this morning (I work a night support carer) and was able to demonstrate to the lady how it worked.
