dc28 - suction switch over to powerhead
« on: June 07, 2012, 08:46:27 pm »
We have a dc28 approxamately 2 years old.  When the powerhead is dropped down for floor cleaning, there are times when the suction will not leave the wand.  Does anyone know what would cause this problem?

Although not being intimately familiar with this particular model as we don't have it over here, looking at the exploded picture >>here<<, looks to be a switch over valve lever (31 on the diagram) which is actuated as the wand is removed?

Some ball models have a similar system. A partial blockage, broken linkage or sometimes just lubricating it often cures it on balls.

Is the brush roll spinning when the machine is reclined?

If anyone reading is more familiar with that model, do please chime in.

this is not acuring with the wand removed.   when I attempt to move the machine into floor mode, the suction remains at the wand.  This does not happen repeatly, only intermittly.  Yes the brushroll spins, just no suction.

sounds like your change over valve just needs a little lubrication. this happened on my dc28 too and a short burst of silicon spray sorted it out. just make sure you don't spray to much, This is a lovely machine. I really like my one
