dc24 valve losing suction

Hello and thank you for having this forum.
We have a dc24 all floors and having an issue of losing suction.
On the right side of the container there is a small valve at the top that keeps popping open and resulting in no suction.
I have gone thoroughly through the maintenance and cleaned everything and checked for clogged or jammed hoses etc.
It seems like maybe there is supposed to be something that connects to it or is it supposed to be open??

Don't I feel stupid lol.
I found the clog. It was deep in the push bar mechanism. I thought I had it cleaned out good but did a major teardowwn and found the ball of stuff stuck to the inside.

The valve you mention is a bypass valve that activates when the machine is blocked to protect the motor. All Dysons have a similar feature.
