DC04 Brush Control motor?
« on: June 12, 2012, 08:08:41 pm »
Hi
I have a Dyson DC04 brush control model and I would like to replace the motor. I see on eBay that the DC07 motors fit the DC04. Is this true?
We are moving to the states and I don't want to replace the old thing - Its 12 years old and it would be a shame to chuck it now! :(
If I could replace the motor with a US model for the DC07, and change the power cord, would I be set to go? :reading:
Thanks in advance!

If the US motor is a YDK one from a DC07, that should be fine.

If a Panasonic one or another brand, you may have difficulties with motor rubbers etc.

it is the YDK one I will be using.
This one OK?

If not, can you suggest a retailer?
Dyson will not sell you a motor or power cord because they say you need it fitted by a qualified Dyson Engineer.  ::)

That will likely work. Use your own motor rubbers with that conversion though.
