Hi,
     Newbie here...
I have DC17 on which the handle which will not lay down unless forced. Once it is down, if you reinstate it to the upright position, it once again will not lay down.  I have had the unit apart and back together and can't locate the cause of the issue.
Do any of you kind folks here have an advice for me? Thanks in advance!
Looking Forward, Eric

Although I am not to familiar with the dc17 having only worked on one before it does sound like you could have a issue with the cleaner head assembly, Can you take some detailed photo's of the head assembly and post them , especially from underneath and were it joins onto the main body
