dc25 motor problem
« on: August 07, 2012, 07:50:32 pm »
The other day my wife turned on our dyson and it made a terrible noise. I took off the cover for the post motor filter and found some white plastic. I think that my toddler daughter may have dropped something down the tube that leads to the motor. Is it likely that I need to replace the motor? I think that the white plastic I found may have been the remnants of the fan or impeller that I believe is attached to the motor.

If you can photograph and upload here what you pulled out of there that may help us identify if it is from the Dyson?

But yes, I have encountered before stuff dropped by toddlers into the intake tube and it taking out the motor......

Well, I'm going to try taking it apart tonight, thanks to the guides on this site. I guess I'll see what I find, but I'm pretty sure it's the motor.

I'm not sure what the issue was exactly, but I bought an entire ball unit on ebay and just installed it tonight. The problem seems to be gone, so I guess I'm not too worried about what the root cause was.

Now I just have to fix the spring return for the 'stand' wheels.
