DC14 wont turn on
« on: June 19, 2012, 11:15:47 pm »
We have a DC14 which has been working (in as much as any Dyson works) until today. Now pressing the on/off button does nothing.

I have dismantled the switch cover and checked the switch is working by buzzing out with a multimeter. Also checked the fuse. There are no tubes or filters blocked and the brushes will revolve freely if hand turned. Is there anything else I should check or does it sound like the motor has failed?

Did the motor stop during use and if so, did it change tone before it stopped?

I wasnt using it, but SWMBO says it sort of started and barely got going before dieing. From her description the tone wasnt normal for the short time it started.

Assuming the power cable is OK, that sounds like the motor died.
