DC17R

I moved back to the UK from the US last year and brought my American DC17R with me. I knew that there would be voltage differences so bought a transformer to handle the change. We thought that we had bought one that was big enough to withstand the motor and heat but we kept blowing the fuse within a couple of seconds. Is there anything else we can do to get the vac working? We thought that there may be a UK motor which could replace the current one and handle the UK voltage, but need advice on if that is an option.
Thanks for your help!

I expect a standard UK YDK motor will do the job. Might need to mess around with the rubbers a bit to get it fitted right though.
