Vax Power 8 - Overhaul!
« on: August 04, 2014, 11:18:52 am »
I got a load of cleaners this weekend, time to get stripping them down!

First up is this Vax Power 8. Was compeltely clogged, I mean packed solid! Is also missing all of its tools but should do someone a cheap solid and make me some money!

Hose off first

Wheels off

Some screws later (some hidden) and the top of the floor head comes off

Suction channel removed

'Clear' window removed

and the furniture guard removed

Release pedal out

Elaborate hinge clamps off

and seperated

Rear wheels off

On to the cyclone

The top of this part was solid

and in here!

Top stripped

Top seal off the cyclone

Bottom flap removed

and another seal off

Eva assessed the remains

and when she went to bed I carried on with the main part

This part comes off

Seal removed

Post motor filter was taken off. This was packed too, vacced off nicely though

Top handle came off next

and the hose holder

Back of the handle is held on with 2 screws

The rest of the machine splits in half now

Oh lovely, more hair/rubbish that passed through the system

switch cover removed

wire orientation (and more hair)

cord clamp was removed

and the switch holder

and the release valve removed (that was so packed with crap I think it's been open alot...)

Motor out next

Half the thickness of this bit of foam was hair!

The motor had survived unscathed thankfully!

and some screws!

It's a shame these modern cyclonic vacs can't keep the dirt in the bin, although I think this machine has been heavily abused! Hopefully I'll get this washed tonight and back together in the week!

Spine on

Pre motor filter cleaned up nicely

That mark is from the top of our water cylinder in the airing cupboard, must clean that!

Cyclone together

Cyclone top together

And all done!
