DC33 Clutch?
« on: August 01, 2012, 01:52:31 am »
I just rescued a very nice condition DC33.   I haven't broken it down for a full inspection but it powers up and has suction.  However, the beater bar does not rotate.  The belt is not broken.  Does this unit have a clutch?  If it does have a clutch is it something that can be repaired easily or it it best to by a new clutch assembly?   Thanks for any help or suggestions.

First, lets make sure it has a clutch and that it is turned on. Read >>this article<<.

Have a read of that and come back.

  Another successful information exchange with the experts.  While I was awaiting a reply I did tear down the clutch assembly and gave it a cleaning.  After reassembly and still no brush-bar movement I was about to order a new clutch assembly ............ when I read your reply.  That was a spot on diagnosis; I didn't have the unit reclined to engage the clutch.  Everything now works fine and I saved a super unit from the trash heap.  It's just over a year old and can't understand why it was trashed.  THANK YOU!   :tiphat:
