DC07 is hot, smells and has a funny noise!

Please tell me my DC07 hasn't died   

It's started to get very hot right underneath the bin.  It smells like something's burning and there's a noise that wasn't there before.  The brushes are going round fine and i can't see any blockages anywhere.  Can anyone tell me what it might be, please?  I'm only a girlie but don't mind trying to fix this myself, if that's possible, as long as someone gives me clear instructions on what to do

Motor brushes are burning out-so you need a new motor. You need 2 hands and a modicum of technical ability to change a motor-your gender is immaterial.
Angus Black's DCO7 Workshop Manual gives full details of how to change a motor.
With a new motor and clean out at the same time your DC07 will last for many years more.

Yup. I agree with all that.

If your machine has a clutch, you may want to get a clutch belt removal tool. You will also need a T15 screwdriver to do the job.
