DC07 is hot, smells and has a funny noise!
« on: September 01, 2012, 06:47:05 pm »
Please tell me my DC07 hasn't died   :snivel:

It's started to get very hot right underneath the bin.  It smells like something's burning and there's a noise that wasn't there before.  The brushes are going round fine and i can't see any blockages anywhere.  Can anyone tell me what it might be, please?  I'm only a girlie but don't mind trying to fix this myself, if that's possible, as long as someone gives me clear instructions on what to do   8)

Thank you for any help you can give me

Motor brushes are burning out-so you need a new motor. You need 2 hands and a modicum of technical ability to change a motor-your gender is immaterial.
Angus Black's DCO7 Workshop Manual gives full details of how to change a motor.
With a new motor and clean out at the same time your DC07 will last for many years more.

Yup. I agree with all that.

If your machine has a clutch, you may want to get a clutch belt removal tool. You will also need a T15 screwdriver to do the job.
