dc 14 dust bin catch??
« on: August 21, 2019, 12:51:30 pm »
Morning,
New to fixing my wife's dyson dc14... after I broke some mysterious piece.

Between the dust bin/assembly base and the motor housing below, there appears to be a spot for a little clip that holds it all together tightly on the front of the machine.  I dropped the vacuum and shrapnel went flying, that I never found again (during cleaning/moving).  There are flexible gaps now between all those pieces, losing suction.

I checked parts warehouse and scoured drawings, and bought a new bin base assembly, but don't see the part I imagine should be there.  Any tips on where to look?

Can you post a photo of it?

Sorry, should have done that first.  Here's the front view; you can see the little gap under the dust bin.  I guess some piece sheared off so cleanly that I can't tell which part it came from?  I looked through various images and schematics and don't see which piece would have had such a clip to begin with.  I assume this is a common issue, with all function relying on all of several little plastic catches throughout the machine... somewhere, I'm sure, my grandmother's electrolux is still being used as a leaf blower.

I'm not really seeing what is missing there or an unusual gap.

Do you mean the little lug that holds the post filter base on at the front?
