Hi first post so be kind please!

My DC24 has no power in the upright position, but when I press on the footbar and lower the handle, the power comes on, the brushes turn, but no suction.

Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this, or more importantly, how to fix this problem?

The brushroll isn't supposed to turn until the machine is reclined.

Sounds like a blockage. That is usually in this hose:

Or where the cleaner head goes into the duct:

There are no blockages?

I have looked for breakages or scorches on the wiring but found nothing?

This has me stumped!!!

Let me understand this better.........

When the machine is upright, does the main motor run?

No, there is no power when in an upright position.
When reclined and with the silver brush switch is pressed in, the brushes move but no suction.
When the brush switch is let out, the brushes stop and there is no power.

As I have found no blockages or breaks in the wiring, do you think it's possible it could be the ball motor?

The motor is the most likely. We are starting to sell more of them.

Check the main power switch clicks on and off audibly, if you are lucky, it will be a broken switch.
