;) Thanks for the post One look and I could see why the head would not go down flat.  Hose was upside down and always pulled the head up instead of pushing it down.  Again many thanks.

These Schematics do not show the Latch that holds the canister to the body of the vacuum.
Why is that ??  That is the part I need to replace.

Dyson do not supply that part on its own is why. They prefer to sell you a full cyclone unit numbered "68" on the diagram. We can supply it (or the whole clip off top) as a used part in case of need.

Don't bother, after arguing with Dyson about this part on the phone 3 times I have decided to go smash my Dyson vacuum with a Sledge Hammer and to buy a real Vacuum instead. They have lost me as a customer forever over a 12 cent plastic part. By the way, here is Schematic that actually shows the part. It is the Cyclone Release Catch. I did find one local vendor that can get me the part, but I still think I would rather video tape myself destroying the vacuum.

Ahh, I see the one you mean now. I misread your original description. I thought you meant the trigger on the cyclone top. Yes, that part you mention will be available I expect.

Hey, if you really hate your Dyson, there is a topic for you here: >>Is there any one out there who truly hates their Dyson?<<.

I had no problem with them until things started breaking on our vacuum and they kept making it harder to replace the parts. I have gone through 3 of the doors on the bottom of the dust collection canister, and now the little Cyclone Release Catch/Latch that holds the Canister and the Cyclone to the body of the vacuum. Funny thing is, I really pamper most things that I own, I am not rough with them. So this does not really speak well of this product. Then when the Dyson Employees told me I cannot buy that part, it angered me. But then they made it worse by having me go to a bunch of Sears Parts and Appliance stores looking for the part, because Dyson told me they would have it or could order it. But in reality Sears could only buy the Entire Spine of the Vacuum Chassis, they would not let them get that one single part, and for the money I could easily buy a competing vacuum. Then I called Dyson and Asked them to put me in touch with a Supervisor, and each of the three times I called, they hung up on me when I politely asked for a Supervisor. Finally I got through a Fourth time, but they only let me speak with a Customer Service Rep. who politely told me, "To bad, we do not sell that part, your only options are to send us the entire vacuum and we will rebuild it for you, or to take it to a certified repair facility and allow them to rebuild the vacuum for you, you cannot purchase the part." In other words, spend between a hundred bucks and possibly much more with the shipping option for a 12 cent part I have already taken off the machine with two simple screws. So there is no Hatred here, it is just INSANITY ON THE PART OF THIS BULLSHIT COMPANY DYSON ! And that is why I will be Destroying my Dyson DC14 "Full Access" Model Vacuum with a Sledge Hammer and Video Taping it and putting it on Twitter and Facebook for the world to see, and of course i will tell the story of how Dyson screws over their customers too !! Nothing better than some bad publicity for a terrible company !!

Just before you get your sledgehammer out, this is the part you want?

They are showing stock of those new and including postage to the US, one would cost you about $10 and take 7-10 days to arrive.

Alternatively, if you go the sledgehammer route, don't forget to give us the link to the video.  :tiphat:

Still leaning towards the Hammer !! Especially since several marketing websites have expressed interest in featuring my "Dyson Go Smash Video" on their international websites. I think it would be a good thing for anyone frustrated with Dyson to vent by demonstrating how easily their crappy cheap vacuums disintegrate with some simple manipulation of tools that were designed properly thousands of years ago. The Club, and the Hammer !! These aren't tools that require an overqualified technician to install a 12 cent part every year for 120 dollars. No, these are timeless classics that just keep on working for generations, unlike the crappy Dyson products that only last you a few years, never live up to the hype, and cost more than buying two or three of the competing vacuums combined. All because of a 12 cent part that they refused to sell me, and only some kind technician from overseas was able to even offer me the part.
 :'( :'( :'( :'(

Think I should contact Letterman, and see if they want to drop it off a roof top like they do from time to time in funny video segments with Dave. I am sure we could find a few dozen vacuums to drop if he wanted to do it !!
