While vacuuming carpet, the brush bar will start and stop spinning sporadically. When it used to kick off while using it, I was able to angle the handle/body and it would kick back on. Now it won't even do this, but you can hear a clicking noise almost as if it wants to kick back on. The last few weeks I have had to drive it into the floorboard/wall to give it a good whack so the brush bar kicks back on. But, it's really hit or miss and this "technique" won't always work now either.
There is nothing stuck in the brush bar and I haven't sucked anything up or rolled over something large. I have rattled it and taken it apart, shook it and used all of my "mechanical skills" that I have.
I took apart the head and the belt is in tip top shape.
The motor appears ok and does not smell as if anything is burning.
What could this be? Is there a sensor that is kicking on and off? Is there a loose part? Could it be the motor?
Any info would be great!
