Dyson DC04 sole plate part not flush with floor
« on: March 22, 2013, 09:31:05 am »
My dyson DC04 is hard to tilt into its hoovering position (very loud click where it locks in the upright position) and when i do get into hoovering position it just hangs there without staying on the floor as it should. Had a look but can't figure out how the sole plate actually stays on the floor without some kind of weight or maybe a belt. Anyone else had same problem and maybe could help? thanks

I have tried add a photo where i think the problem could be but keeps saying file not saved and won't post the reply. I treid uploading a video but the file must be too big for this site. (please note the vacuum is not running at the moment as i need to replace the belt and am awaiting delivery but the problem is the same running or not).  Kind regards timebandit

the block button you can see needs to be out further
try sprying wd40 around then press in from the under side may be easier if you take head off
 it should stick out further
hard to explain

Thanks. Did as you said and taking of the front part to get into the part i needed to spray noticed something wrong with how the belt cover part was seated as the flap next to it was resting in the same place in between which i'm guessing was causing the loud clicking sound as when i seated it properly and put it back together it was nice and smooth. Next step will be to fit new belt when it arrives and hopefully all will be sorted. Many thanks for everyones help and will update on how it goes.
