DC24- Testing pcb and motor??
« on: May 27, 2013, 03:24:30 pm »
Hi All

I have searched but cant find a definitive answer! so im just gonna ask before I order a new motor..How to I correctly check the motor and pcb for fault??

the brushbar doesnt work, I have stripped down using the walkthough sticky (thanks ) and I want to test the motor and pcb and see whats at fault. (i have triple checked the red reset switch)
im getting 334VDC from the motor output on the pcb- does this sound correct??

what resistance should I have over the motor?? I seem to have an open circuit?

thanks in advance

334vDC sounds high. 234 might be more normal. This is a UK machine?

I'd be looking for 400Ω across the motor and 725Ω across an assembled cleaner head terminals on a 220-240v machine.

We have occasionally found the PCB can take out the motor.

Sounds to me like both.

Hi All,

Is it possible for the motor to take out the PCB board as well or is it more likely to be the motor?.

We change (and sell) probably ten or twenty times more motors than PCB's if that helps.

;)Thanx for that, I've ordered a DC24 brush bar motor, so hopefully that will do the trick, otherwise it'll be the board. I'll let you know how I get on.

Kind Regards,
