DC04 Zorbster brushbar
« on: June 29, 2013, 08:51:46 am »
Hi
I have a DC04 Zorbster purple and grey it has sat in the shed for some years!
In a moment of madness last week I decided to get it out and have a look at it! I searched for what might be wrong with it not picking up!
Thanks to the useful info on here I washed the filters and ordered new ones, mean while I took the brushbar out and cleaned all the hairs and fluff off it.
NOW the suction is much better BUT the brushbar doesn't turn. I have read the posts about replacing the clutch and removing the clutch, but nothing showing what a plonker I have been cause I didn't keep the belt under tension, just pulled it and pulled the brushbar out.
What can I do?????
thanks

Do you need a brush roll removal tool?

See here: https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,392.msg894.html#msg894

If I understood you correctly.......

Try this: http://dysonmedic.co.uk/how-to-replace-the-clutch-on-a-dyson-dc04/

Edit: Ahh, you mean the little camber thingy. I'll ask our tech on Monday.

If you encounter any glitches with our site, do bear with us - we are doing a server swap on Thursday sometime.

PS - we were so busy Tuesday that by the time I asked him about this, we were closing and the computers were off. And we are closed Wednesdays. So sorry about that, but glad you worked it out.

OK have fitted the new brush bar and everything is rotating freely. I have also fitted new filters.
The problem now is a loss of suction! In frustration I whacked the dust chamber (not sure of technical term) and the motor seemed to gain power and the suction sounded (and felt) much much better. Started to hoover and the motors sound changed and loss of suction again  >:( any ideas  :'(

The Zorbster is a bit different to the other DC04 models - the motor runs at two speeds, slow when the cyclone and bin are removed (supposedly to work Zorb powder into the carpet) and full speed when the cyclone and bin are attached again to use as a normal vacuum.

What I suspect is happening is that the bin isn't pressing the switch in properly that is located on the frame, just above the HEPA filter.

If you press it manually when the cyclone and bin is removed and this should change the motor speed.

The simple fix it to wedge something between the bin and switch to depress it whilst in use.
