DC14 Roller/beater not turning
« on: July 15, 2013, 04:51:32 pm »
The brush/roller is not turning and no suction at the wand (but there is suction at the vertical pipe moulding to the right of the chassis which appears to be connected to the motor assembly - if you know what I mean!). Belt in situ and appears to be ok. Roller is not 'locked' and can be turned manually. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try this for the brush not turning: http://dysonmedic.co.uk/brush-roll-bar-wont-turn-dyson-dc04-dyson-dc07-dyson-dc14/

The suction at the wand says it is blocked. Did you check the filter?

Also check the u-bend has not fallen off.

Thank you so much for your almost instant response, which resolved the problem with the brush..... the control was set to 'off' - DOH!!! As regards there being no suction from the wand, further examination reveals a gap between the entry point of the removable waste bin and the top of the moulding which leads from the 'vacuum valve pipe assembly'(?). I think this joint should be fitted with a seal or rubber boot of some sort, which I believe is identified  by the number '23' on your exploded 'DC14 Chassis and electrical connections' diagram (https://manchestervacs.co.uk/DysonForum/index.php/topic,80.0.html). Am I correct in calling this seal an 'inlet or entry seal' for the purposes of ordering a replacement? Thanks again.

You will find many gaps around the machine on the airflow system. You imagine they should be closed and tight, but they are not. They close up when the machine is in use.

If you can post a pic of the bit you think is wrong with your machine, that will help.

Is the ubend on at the bottom of the back hose? Number 8 on the diagrams.
